Women in Argentina Set Courthouse on Fire

Women set fire to a court house after the charred remains of the body of 14-year-old Florencia Romano was found in Argentina.

14-year-old Florencia, went missing after she left the house saying that she was going to see a friend on December 12th.

Although the family filed a missing report for her, the police did not begin to search for her until protests began.

Florencia’s body was found in an irrigation canal in Maipú on Thursday evening, December 17.

According to the initial autopsy results, her skull and bones were broken and she was hit with a hard instrument and punches to her body. Her remains were also partially burnt.

The murder of Florencia sparked mass protests in many parts of Argentina, especially in Mendoza, where she lived. The investigation revealed that the 14-year-old girl met online, and went to the home of 33-year-old Pablo Arancibia and Micaela Méndez.

It was reported that Florencia had screamed for help and a neighbour had called the emergency line to report the sounds of violence, but the report was ignored.

More than 10,000 women, led by teenagers, marched to government buildings. During the march, women accused the state of being responsible for Florencia’s death.

Protesting against the murder, the women set fire to the Courthouse in Mendoza.
