During a football match played in the Champions League between Paris Saint-Germain and Istanbul’s Basaksehir at the Parc des Princes stadium in France, the fourth official reportedly made a racist comment about Basaksehir’s assistant coach, Pierre Webo. Members from both teams walked off the field after 23 minutes in protest, leading to suspension of play. Reactions came from all over the world even as people also recalled attacks against Amedspor players in Turkey in the past.

Amedspor, a football team in Diyarbakir (Amed) in Turkey also posted a message regarding the incident: “It reminds us of the racist attitude of Başakşehirspor when they played Amedspor in the Ziraat Spor Cup. We stand with Webo and say no to racism”, the message read.
