Turkish fighter jets have carried out an airstrike against villages located in the Qandil and Biradost regions of Iraqi Kurdistan.

According to Roj News, the assault was carried out on the evening of 13 November, and the Bêpalan, Urte and Gurgamêş villages of Binare Qandil were targeted.

It has been reported that scout planes were also seen in the region and civil settlements were damaged due to the airstrike. In addition, Seqer and Gerwî villages were targeted at the same time. According to local sources, some village roads were damaged and closed.

Turkey also carried out an airstrike in the town of Derkarê in Zakho early on 10 November, according to Roj News. The same areas were targeted again in the evening. Reports from the ground stated that the attacks started fires in the agricultural areas and houses were also damaged.

Another operation launched in Bitlis

Meanwhile Turkey has launched a military operation in Bitlis (Bedlis), eastern Turkey.

According to the Mesopotamia Agency’s report, the Turkish Interior Ministry announced that a military operation named “Yıldırım-15 Mutki-Sarpkaya” was launched. The operation is reportedly a wide-ranging one and includes 816 Turkish soldiers.

Turkey has also launched a military operation against the Haftanin region of Iraqi Kurdistan. As Turkey’s operations continue, tension increases between Kurdish parties.

Lastly, the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) deployed its forces to the Garê region in Iraqi Kurdistan, where Kurdistan Workers’ Party’s (PKK) forces were located.

The PKK claims that the KDP is in cooperation with Turkey regarding ongoing military operations.
