The Terebinth harvest has begun in Şırnak (Şirnex) in Turkey

Every year, villagers from Şırnak (Şirnex) in Turkey collect terebinth. Also referred to as the turpentine tree, the harvest season for this tree has begun.

However, there is a very low harvest this year due to the forest fires. Villagers from Şırnak (Şirnex) are finding that they cannot collect enough terebinth to sell. Medine Yıldız and her daughter Rabia Yıldız are amongst the villagers who are encountering these difficulties. They walk two kilometres every day to collect the terebinth. It is one of the ways they make a living. Although they are struggling with the harvest this year, they appreciate living and working so close to nature.
