Student seasonal workers in Bitlis, Turkey

They roam from city to city to earn their livelihoods like Koçers (nomadic people). They are seasonal agricultural workers, and they pick tomatoes, oranges, hazelnuts in turn. Some of them left school due to the economic crisis. Some study in university, others are child workers.

Tomato pickers at the foot of Nemrut Mountain in the Tatvan district of Bitlis (Bedlîs) work under similar conditions.

Seasonal workers, who work without health insurance from morning till night, earn only 75 Turkish lira per each day.

Saffet Aslan, who is a student in the Physical Education department of Malatya University, has six championships in sports climbing.

However, he cannot train due to financial constraints. He works on a farm.
