Several people detained in Turkey as part of an investigation into the ESP and the SGDF

The houses of several politicians and journalists were raided today as part of an investigation into the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) and the Federation of Socialist Youth Associations (SGDF). Several people were detained.

ESP Co-Chair Şahin Tümüklü, ESP members Hüseyin İldan, Çınar Altan, Ömer Sinan, Hıdır Yılmaz, Emrah Topaloğlu, Zeynep Gerçek, İbrahim Gerçek, SGDF Co-Chair Alev Özkiraz, SGDF members Ela Deniz Albayrak, Özge Doğan, Nazlı Yöyler, Yaren Tuncer, Etkin News Agency (ETHA) reporter Pınar Gayıp and Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Assembly member Helin Yılmaz were detained. The detainees were reportedly taken to İstanbul’s Police Headquarters on Vatan Avenue.

Many houses were raided in Ağrı (Agiri) in the morning. Four people – Human Rights Association’s (İHD’s) Ağrı representative Atilla Özbay, Emin Yıldız, Kamuran Barışer and Memiş Aras, a member of the Confederation of Public Workers’ Unions (KESK) -were detained.
