Plan to assassinate Berivan Aslan in Austria revealed

A Turkish intelligence agent ‘confessed’ his plan to assassinate a Kurdish politician to Austrian authorities.

Feyyaz Ö., who claims to work for Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization (MİT), confessed to Austrian authorities that he was preparing to assassinate Kurdish-Austrian politician Berivan Aslan, a member of Austria’s Green Party.

Austrian authorities are investigating the case. Kurdish politician and academic Berivan Aslan said: “The assassination plan is not directed at me personally. All opponents have been targeted”.

He added: ”I was personally informed about the plan by Austrian intelligence. I have been under police protection for nine days”.

Feyyaz Ö told the authorities that he had received information about the assassination from another MİT employee in Serbia and had been surveilling Aslan for a while and admitted that he booked a hotel room to wait for Aslan. In his confession, it was revealed that MİT was planning other assassinations in Austria to create unrest there.

Aslan is a Kurdish politician and academic who is active in politics focusing on minority rights, freedom of belief and women’s struggles in Austria. He is a candidate for the Green Party in the 2021 elections.
