Objections raised to the suspension of Helin Şen case

Twelve-year-old Helin Hasret Şen lost her life as a result of gunshots from a police vehicle after curfew was declared in the Sur district of Diyarbakır (Amed) on 12 October 2015.

A lawsuit was filed against the accused police officer, Abdullah E., for the murder of Helin Şen, but now the trial has been suspended, according to the Mesopotamia Agency, on the grounds that no permission to investigate the police was obtained.

Helin Şen’s lawyers appealed to the Diyarbakır 2nd High Criminal Court against the suspension of the case

The Human Rights Association (İHD) Legal Commission pointed out that the suspension of the trial caused a “violation of the investigation”.

It was noted by the İHD that this regulation regarding the law “cannot be used to favor a public official who caused a serious human rights violation with his intentional action. For this reason, we demand the annulment of the decision and the annulment of the interim decision of the Diyarbakır 1st High Criminal Court”.
