Kurdish construction workers killed and injured after gun assault in Turkey

Construction workers from Van (Wan) have been assaulted with a gun in the
Dinar district of Afyon in Turkey.

According to Mezopotamya Ajansı’s report, Özkan Tokay lost his life in the attack, and two others, Fırat Tokay and Emrah Özsaliç, were injured and have been taken to the district public hospital.

Ömer Arslantürk has been named as the assailant.

Relatives of workers who were trying to go to Afyon were blocked in the Erciş district of Van and others were prevented at a police control point at the entrance of Afyon.

It has been claimed that a police officer told injured workers to “take your dead and get out”. The attacker, Ömer Aslantürk, fled the crime scene.

The Governor of Afyon issued a statement on the assault: “It seems that the incident resulted from a dispute over noise and dust between the workers, who were working on an ongoing construction project, and people who were living nearby.”

An investigation has been launched to find Ömer Aslantürk, according to the statement.
