Farmers in southeast Turkey complain that agricultural production is no longer economically viable. Many farmers state that they cannot even afford the cost of cultivating cabbages, which were planted in May and gathered in October. “Whatever we plant, our costs are not covered. The price of diesel, fertilizer and water is high”, noted a farmer.
