Halise Aksoy: They are trying to intimidate us, I will not be afraid

Halise Aksoy, the mother of Agit İpek, whose body was delivered to the family for burial via a parcel delivery service, was detained, with her guests, after her house was raided.

Stating that her and her four guests were subjected to torture at her home during detention, Aksoy said, “I am not afraid of them, they are trying to intimidate us. I will not give up,” she said.

Police raided the house of Halise Aksoy, who tried for three years to retrieve the remains of her son, Agit İpek, who died in a clash in Dersim.

What happened?

The bones of Agit İpek, who died in a conflict in Dersim in 2017, were eventually sent to his family home in Diyarbakır (Amed) in April 2020 by parcel delivery service. The investigation, which was initiated upon the family’s criminal complaint, concluded with non-prosecution of the authorities on the grounds that “the transaction was in accordance with the regulations”.

In 2017, 267 bodies were taken from Garzan Cemetery in Bitlis. It was revealed in May 2020 that these bodies were buried one on top of the other on a highway in Kilyos, İstanbul.
