Around 38,000 people took to the streets of Berlin in Germany on 29 August to protest against the government’s Covid-19 ‘containment and health’ measures.

Those critical of the manner in which the ‘pandemic’ has been handled marched in Berlin after a court finally provided a go-ahead for the demonstration.

Police arrested three hundred demonstrators during the protests. About two hundred people were arrested at one rally, which the authorities blamed on right-wing agitators who reportedly threw rocks and bottles.

“We’re here to say: ‘We have to be careful! Coronavirus crisis or not, we must defend our freedoms'”, said Christina Holz, a 22-year-old student, when interviewed by AFP.

With new coronavirus cases rising since lockdown measures were lifted several months ago, European countries have implemented tighter regulations to contain the outbreak that has reportedly killed more than 800,000 globally.

Similar protest rallies took place across several other European cities. Many demonstrators called the way in which the virus was being projected by governments and other official global bodies “a hoax”.

Thousands gathered in London’s Trafalgar Square to protest against these concerns relating to ‘pandemic restrictions’, current and proposed government and global ‘initiatives’ (including ‘vaccine initiatives’) and ‘5G’. Signs reading “Masks are muzzles” and “New normal = new fascism” were held up.

In Paris, up to three hundred people protested against the government’s decision to make mask wearing compulsory in all public areas.

Similar protests took place in Vienna and Zurich.
