HDP MP Feleknas Uca: Fate of thousands Yazidi women is still unknown

Speaking on the budget of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the People’s Democratic Party (HDP) Deputy Feleknas Uca recalled that 7,000 Yazidi women were kidnapped by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and said that “The fate of 2,800 women is still unclear. These are crimes against humanity.”

Mesopotamia Agency (MA) reported on HDP Batman MP Feleknas Uca’s statements at the General Assembly of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the budget for 2021. Uca said, “This year, we are struggling in an economic collapse that is no different from other years, but we are now edging closer to collapse.”

EU promises have stopped’

Commenting on Erdogan’s failure to secure EU membership, Feleknas Uca said, “The Justice and Development Party’s (AKP’s) failure about its EU membership promises, which were used as propaganda during its rule have not implemented the required changes on democratic values for EU membership.”

She stressed that the government has actually followed the opposite route by completely distancing itself from the principles of democracy ‘The EU report says ‘Turkey is moving away from the EU every day.” she said.

HDP Deputy Uca also criticised the government policies about discrimination and pressure against Kurdish people and stated that Turkey had turned into a “police state” after 2016 and that people in Kurdish provinces, especially in Diyarbakır, have been systematically attacked by law enforcement agencies,” she said.

Hundreds of Yazidi people forced to migrate

Deputy Uca also pointed to the current situation in Syria saying that ”After the occupation of Afrin, the government maintained systematic repressive measures against Kurdish culture and the economy in the region, and there have been attempts to change the demographic structure.” She aimed her next comments at the AKP government and said: ”The fate of hundreds of women kidnapped by the predecessor organisations you control is still unclear. Hundreds of thousands Yazidi women were expelled from their lands on 3rd August 2014, and 7,000 Yazidi women were abducted by these ISIS barbarians.’’ she said.
