453 women killed in Turkey over the last 10 months, says report

Four hundred and fifty-three women were killed in Turkey in the first 10 months of the year, according to a report by the the Centre for Sociopolitical Field Studies.

The report is prepared by collecting data from various websites, such as the We Will Stop Femicide Platform, Bianet, Jîn News, and the Mesopotamia News Agency.

It was revealed that at least 256 women were murdered from January to October this year, while 197 lost their lives in suspicious circumstances. According to the report, the cities with the highest numbers of killings were Istanbul, Izmir, and Antalya.

It was also shown that 37.9 percent of women who lost their lives were murdered by either their husbands or ex-husbands, while 18.4 percent were killed by their relatives and 16 percent were killed by men they were dating.

The same report reveals that 54.3 percent of women were killed at home, whereas 33.6 percent were in public places, such as the street, workplace, hairdresser or park.
